This weekend on the way to the cottage I found this amazing Mustard Relish at Tops Grocery Store. It is sweet with heat.
I keep Zwiegles Red Hots and Whites - fat hot dogs in natural casings stocked in the freezer and Marc does the same at the cottage. Apparently they are only available in Western New York however I wonder why the red ones are called Texas Red Hots?
Tonight I remembered I had to try the new relish and I made myself a "snack". I warmed up a hotdog in a pot with sauerkraut and spread on the mustard relish. Truly delish! I love the heat that comes after the sweetness of the relish.
Do you like sweet heat tastes? Do you have this in your area? Do you use something similar?Hope you've had a sweet day today...with not excessive heat... Judi xoxo

Aw another cross border shopper , we're in Ontario but cross the border at least once a month for groceries and gas . I love to see all the different things in the USA .
Hi Judi! Wish I could shop like you in Canada and the States! I have seen some mustard relish similar to this! I haven't heard of those hot dogs though. Guess what? I made hot dogs tonight with onions and mustard! :)
Hope your weekend was wonderful.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
The only sweet heat thing I can think of that I used to eat as a kid, and then years later my mom would throw them into her apple pies as well, were Red Hots candies!! I should look around and see if they stil sell them.
Your hot dog looked really good...perfect for summer!
I haven't heard of that relish or those hot dogs Judi, but I do love hot dogs cooked on the grill in the summer time--yum!
I have never heard of those hot dogs! They must be a regional thing. I've never tried mustard relish, however I love making honey mustard from hot and spicy horseradish mustard :-)
I love red hots, but we eat them for breakfast. Haven't seen the relish but I love relish. YES, I love the heat and yummmm sauerkraut is a must have on a grilled hot dog.
Enjoy your day dear Judi! HUGS!
Yum, oh, Judi, I'm drooling. I've been looking for a natural casing hot dog ever since we moved, and I haven't found one yet!
I love sweet and hot together :)
