Janine....and Thanksgiving Visiting

My sister-in-law Janine has undergone her first bout of chemotherapy.  Her mother and sister will be flying from Switzerland to stay with Janine and Ken in British Columbia.  Her father and other sister will join them a couple of weeks later.  I know how uplifting that will be to her.   I hope you continue to remember her in your prayers.  Realization of everything is hitting Janine but she is managing to stay strong.  We exchange emails and good wishes.

Did you have a lovely Thanksgiving?  There is so much to be grateful for.

We celebrated this special day with our good friends.  As we were getting things ready to go Geoff and Madeline stopped by.

Madeline was loving the attention....and kisses from her daddy...
I had baked some fally, Thanksgiving type of cookies....
and some of Marc's favourite mincemeat tarts.  Some had maple leaves on the top and others had little pumpkins.  We brought some over for dessert.
Dinner with our friends was yummy and we always have so much to catch up on.
Marc and my girlfriend Kirsti....
It was a late night for sure but it was fun.  I apparently didn't take very many pictures to show you.  We also made some fresh bread and one of our brie, pear, cranberry pastry braids but no pictures to share.  Hope you are having a great week... Judi xoxo

Our Days Are So Unknown.....

I feel badly today. It truly is unbelieveable how fragile our lives are. Here one moment happy as pie and then gone. Gone.

Three weeks ago my mom was ending her vacation in Florida having had a great time with other Finnish snowbirds from Ontario. In particular with a close couple she sees here and in Florida. The husband was in his early 70s with a successful business, a lovely home and cottage here in Ontario, a new home in Florida, many friends and good times. He was full of life and happiness.

He climbed a ladder to inspect a certain type of roof he produces, the ladder slipped and he fell on his head. He never regained consciousness with massive injuries and passed away in hospital in Florida last night after midnight. Gone....

We can never imagine what we'll meet up with at the end of our day. More and more I am reminded how precious life is. We may think we have a plan.....

My thoughts are with his wife, the family and friends....love and blessings for my own family and friends...and all best for my blogging friends.. Judi xoxo

Perfect Fall Day, Apples, Dinner and "Friends"

A couple of weeks ago we set off to Brown's Berry Patch looking for apples. It was the perfect fall day for a nice pork roast...and fresh apple sauce.

We passed the apple orchard by the cottage where these crates of apples were picked from.
lots of apples....

At Brown's we have a good selection of freshly picked apples...a
all makes and varieties....

There were interesting people hanging around....

and so we posed for pictures with them....wonder why she is looking so bashful?

This lady is really paying attention to Marc....

he's showing a little pumpkin....

This lady was waiting to greet everyone...
And...at the end of the day the roast was ready with stuffing...(stuffings under)
apple sauce was still warm and delicious...

and everything tasted like the perfect fall day....

mmmmmm Fall is really a yummy time... Judi xoxo
