Tic...Toc...Another Drawer Clock...

I've gone dry.  I don't know what to write about.  Its the new year and I look to a few pictures I've taken and don't know what to say.  As a matter of fact I have a lot of projects waiting in cue for when I get really inspired.  At work I think of projects I'll work on when I get home but at home its not happening.  Its probably because work has been very busy this month.

But I did think you might be interested in the latest drawer clock I made for Janet and Ryan for Christmas.  Their last name is Williams and I added 4 "W"s representing them and each of their 2 little guys.
Janet likes quotes on family and I was happy to find this one.  The clocks are made from drawers that I like to spray paint with a sand/stone textured paint. I use ModgePodge also and they are fun to make .  Each one I make gives me new ideas for when I might make the next one.
The first 2 I made were for my sons for their birthdays in April and May.  If you follow my blog you may remember.  Tic Toc.... and I have some more drawers on cue too....waiting to be transformed into clocks.

Hope you have had an inspired day... Judi xoxo

Richard's BIG birthday and another Drawer Clock Project gift..

Happy Birthday to my youngest son Richard.
Its my baby's birthday today.  This was his 1st Birthday.  He's on the left and Geoff on the right.

Now its his 30th birthday.  He is SO catching up to me!!
I baked this cake with fresh fruit on top for him because it is one of his favourites.
We celebrated his birthday yesterday at my other son Geoff's house and we had such a nice afternoon.
I was the photographer in the pic of all of us so here I am with Marc...  Unfortunately neither of the grandkids Austin or Madeline were there.  Austin was with his father because it was his little brother's 1st birthday and Madeline was with her mom because she wasn't feeling so well.  We missed them...
I made Richard a Drawer Clock and had such fun making it.  You may recall I made one for Geoff's Birthday in April as well.   The "B"s are digital which I found at GraphicDivine and are for our last name and he likes wolves.
Happy Birthday Richard.  Love you...  Mom

Hope you all have a great day today...its raining here again...and was yesterday also.   Judi xoxo

Time In My Hands...Project Drawer Clock

I love the wonderful inspirations and ideas in Blogland. Recently I visited Creative Ambitions. She has great ideas and I loved the fun things she's been doing with drawers. So I had to find me one!
....and I did. I rescued a computer table drawer and after visiting Michaels....

and HomeDepot I was ready to start to visualize how exactly I was going to handle this project.

Because the drawer didn't have a bottom piece and couldn't stand I cut a purchased white piece of moulding to fit the spot...then sprayed it all with coppery brown texture paint.
ran back to Home Depot for another piece of molding that has gorgeous leaves running along it. I sawed it into 4 pieces and hammered them into place along the sides and ends....

Abby watched me drilling the hole for the clock piece....on my diningroom table, if you please.
The noise didn't bother her at all. She is used to watching my projects in progress....

I couldn't believe I'd used the whole can of spray paint and I was short and then decided I would like the look of contrast using 2 different copper and brown folk art paints instead. I lightly highlighted the leaves in green...

I decoupaged scrapbooking sheets from Michaels that had lovely inspirational words and sentences about family and hope and bountiful words to the front of the drawer.

I found wonderful digital pictures on Etsy from GraphicDivine. Angie was so quick to work with me and to produce a size I needed. I loved the vintage look.

I can't believe I forgot to take a picture last night before I decided it needed a little more.... Today I found some vintage bees digitals from Angie that matched the birds in colour. They added more interest I thought.
I cut and decoupaged 2 corners from one of the bird sheets and voila I was done.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. The clock can hang on the wall.....

or it can be carried to where it might want to sit. You can see the drawer pull on the top. It was a perfectly matched original piece so I left it on.

This really was fun to make and once I finish up one final detail to the back of the clock I will share the purpose of making it...

Now I have to keep my eyes open... I can't wait to find my next drawer.

Is there something you are looking to find? Have a great day... Judi xoxo
