Cottage Flower Bed Project

How was YOUR weekend?  Did you have wonderful weather and did you sit and relax....by a pool...or under a tree and read...or something fun like that?
We were busy on Saturday for sure.  There was a lovely breeze off the lake and the sun wasn't out the whole time so it was perfect for outdoor work!

Ryan finished the skirt around the new deck and Marc stained it on Friday night about an hour before it rained.  But fortunately it didn't harm the job.
When we're sure there won't be rain  Marc will stain the whole deck the colour of the skirt.  The outside is having an uplift in that the lakeside door is going to become a sliding door.  The windows at this end are being replaced.  They are ordered and hopefully it won't take too long.  It will be so nice to have a sliding door.  The main door is at the other side.

He ordered some topsoil.  It looks like a little pile here but it was 4 cubic yards.
Saturday we both had our shovels and a wheel barrow and we borrowed Bob's rototiller.  We were so busy all afternoon making flower beds around the deck.

We got a lot done.
The flower beds don't have their edging yet and will have more soil added. . I sure did welcome a nice big mug of ice water from Marc for sure...
We planted the hydrangea that had been blooming happily in the pot on the deck.  Its not very happy right now.

On Sunday morning the hummingbirds only wanted to sit on their feeder that is in the newbed beside the hydrangea.  I think maybe they wanted to sit there and admire it.

I didn't want to come home!  I wanted to stay and continue working on Sunday.  Hopefully next weekend we'll have great weather for working outside again.  Then we can plant.

Hope your weekend was productive....and today relaxing... Judi xoxo

Dearest Judi,
What a wonderful thing to have a great place to get away to! I need that about now. For the first time in my life I feel like running away! I'm so weary and sad...ready for a pick me up!

I think I may fly to Louisiana with my husband in a few weeks, which will be so nice!

I appreciate you too, even from afar!
xoxo- Julie

Wasn't it just the BEST weekend Judi? Looks so nice at the lake. The river was breathtaking too, but I relaxed in the pool. No gardening at all : )
You have a lot of work ahead of you, wow.
Love the hummy.

Hi Judi,

Marc sure is a handy man; that deck is gorgeous! Your yard is going to be just perfect as soon as that hydrangea gets happy again.

It's not too hot here, but remember, I ❤ Florida!
