Apple Cake in an Iron Skillet

First my thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are in the path of Hurricane Irene or the
 devestation she is spreading along the way.  Be safe......
+++++++

I love apple cakes and I went back to Pioneer Woman for her recipe for Skillet Apple Cake.

Cored and sliced apples cook in butter and sugar while the batter is made.  It smelled so good.
The batter is spooned on top of the apples in the skillet and baked in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

The cake came out of the oven like this.
And after 5 minutes was flipped onto a plate.

Note to self...bake cake longer than 25 minutes - go for the definite golden brown.

But we really thought it turned out yummy....  We served it with ice cream.
Thank you Ree for  a great recipe.... Judi xoxo
