Pinks and Purples from Grammy to Madeline...

I still love this fabric I posted about a couple of weeks ago that I used to make Madeline a little quilt. The pinks and purples are definately her favourite colours.

I cut squares and sewed them into 9 square blocks....

and appliqued a flower on some of the blocks...

then sewed them together .....

and finally sewed strips around the quilt....

I think she'll love the colours. This is her birthday present so I have until July to finish it. I'm going to put it aside for a bit and finish it off closer to her birthday.

Fabricland has some cute buttons in these colours so I may have to go and buy some and sew one on the centre of each flower.

There was even time to make a sausage pillowcase for Madeline. Its called a sausage pillowcase because of the way its sewn. There are no sew seams showing at the cuff of the pillowcase. The first time I made a pair I posted about it HERE . This pillowcase has butterflies in the same colours as the quilt which also has some butterflies. I'm going to make some other little pretties for her bed with the leftover fabrics. Its so fun working with pretty fabrics...

Its a nice bright evening and I'm off for a walk before dinner. During the walk I'll think of my game plan....what pretties will I make next?.... Have a pretty wonderful day... Judi xoxo

Enjoy your walk!

The quilt is gorgeous. I think the buttons in the middle of the flowers will finish it off perfectly. She is going to love it and I'm sure she will treasure it forever.
Have a great weekend.

oops, I just posted a comment and it disappeared...?? ANYway..
your quilt is just beautiful.
You did a great job on colors. I often think the success of a quilt is the colors chosen. I LOVE 9 patch quilts..so old fashioned and charming.
hugs, bj
