Less Than a Gallon of Colour - New Look

I showed you recently pics of the kitchen at Rockledge cottage.  The walls were 70s vinyl wallpaper with avacado green, orange and yellow flowers.  Lots of flower design typical of that era.  You couldn't remove the wallpaper so during my first week of vacation I painted the kitchen a Pistachio Tint....

This view...

became this view.....

These cupboards which were yellow...
are now like this....
These cupboards below ...

are nice and freshly painted...
Another wall of colourful vinyl....

looks like this....

The final windows to be replaced are the ones over the sink...then I'll paint all the yellow trim and door a lighter creamy colour.
Abby continues to enjoy her cottage vacation too and is here modelling the new rug in the kitchen.  It was just what we were looking for.

Another favourite spot for Abby is this one taken this morning....

Now.  Some of you may know I do not like painting however when you want something bad enough... I think I'm rather starting to get used to painting.
Have a lovely day.... Judi xoxo

Red Brick Dresser Unveiled....

A couple of years ago while thrifting I picked up this dresser.  I've had it all over the house including here in my bedroom.  It has a missing drawer but I've had a thin sheet of wood on it and it has been fine...obvious but fine.
Most recently its been in my livingroom but it wasn't looking right.  I had such a problem with its colour sitting right beside my red brick leather chair.  I LOVE the colour of my red brick chair so when I visited and saw how Julie had painted a dresser with Behr's Red Brick S-H-170 that was my next challenge.
My dresser barenekked in her tired colour....
and after 2 coats of her new flowing red brickness.....
She sits so pretty in the same shade as my favourite red brick chair....
Here is another pic with Abby on the sofa.  I feel much more comfortable with the flow of colour in my livingroom.  After painting the  wood sheet inserted in the missing drawer it now looks like it was meant to be that way. Visit Julie at Julie-Inspiredbyyou and see where my inspiration came from.  I have yet to decide whether I'll add the Espresso Bean glaze to finish it off as she did.  I love it...and I may do it.   Judi xoxo

Newly Painted Bedroom - With a Little Help From Abby

I told you I painted my bedroom a couple of weeks ago and discovered that hey painting isn't as bad as I thought it was.

Well maybe Abby my "helper" helped take my mind off the tedious job it might have been? She was with me the whole time I painted, quite fascinated actually. She is funny because she's sensitive to certain scents. If I get up close to talk to her after brushing my teeth she makes a face and curls up her upper lip, or if I have just put on scented hand cream or perfume she does the same thing. Funny face and curls up her upper lip.

But she rather liked the smell of paint and kept taking whiffs of it. Silly girl.

When I moved the furniture she had to trapes in and out of every spot....

so curious....

between that and looking out the window at the snowflakes....

sitting up high on moved furniture looking outside at the snowflakes....

lying on whatever new things found their way on to the bed or out of place...

another spot to watch mama....

She did manage to look up at me from a piece of furniture that wasn't normally in that spot....

The bedroom is not large but I took some pictures anyway. I only get the morning sun in that room so in the afternoon it was darker. Now its so much brighter all day.

The taupe was a pretty enough colour but I needed a change. This is the contrast.

These are the pillow cases I made this winter....

The ceiling is about the colour the walls were before. It really looks dark in these pictures in contrast to the light colour of the walls now. When you actually stand in the room the ceiling is fine just the way it is.

This is the dresser I thrifted a couple of years ago. It has one drawer missing. Now that I've angled it to face the door I have a pretty piece of vintage lace I'm going to gather and hang inside that area just to cover it.

That is the freshly painted bedroom. What a difference a can or 2 of paint can make! I painted the washroom also but because it is small it was difficult to share the whole picture with you.
I hope you have a wonderfully fresh day.... Judi xoxo

Freshening Up for Spring....and Baking Too

So what have I been doing? Doing the one thing I don't like - painting. I painted my bedroom and that spread to my little washroom. Thats all....painting. That isn't anything worth mentioning by many of you who obviously like painting and I see your lovely room transformations. Its hard for me to imagine that I could enjoy so many different crafts and doing things yet the whole painting walls process has been an ordeal.

I have painted on 3 occasions in the past few years. Always disliked it immensely. This time? I was able to "go with the flow". THAT is an accomplishment.

The colour I chose is a shade of white. Its a bright and clean change from the taupe in the bedroom and the sage green in the little washroom. They were nice colours but needed a change. I have no pictures to share right now because I'm still finishing up since I'd moved into reorganization of closets. Now its time to clean up and then I'm done.

Today is a vacation day for me...hoooot! I must have had some 6th sense when I booked this day off over a week ago. It came in handy for finishing up because did I tell you I hate painting....and did not know I was taking myself to the paint store at that time. *s*...

Its a beautiful day out there. Crisp but bright and sunny.
As usual I have different things on the go as I spring clean. I've enjoyed my coffee, my oven is preheated and I'll slip in some cornbread to bake, I have a very interesting Artisean bread which has been rising for 14 hours so far to bake later on. I have a few beans left, that our neighbour Georigia at the cottage gave us, sprouting for our salad AND as the day goes along I hope to try out a new pumpkin and cream cheese loaf recipe. Marc will be back home in Canada around dinner time...it'll be a good day.

I hope wherever you are it is a bright sunny day... Judi xoxo
