BLUE Monday - BLUE Boy and Pink Lady

Its Monday...BLUE Monday. Thank you for Sally at SmilingSally for hosting this day of featuring anything Blue. Be sure to click on her site to visit all the other BLUE participants.

I haven't contributed to Blue Monday for a while but I have some BLUE to show you. I have been doing "spring" cleaning I think for the past week or two. I have been emptying closets and going through everything recycling, discarding and reducing for sure! :o) Does it not feel good? Don't you just feel like you can breathe easier and relax when you know things are not so crowded even in those places you can't see because the doors are closed? I sure feel better.
Anyway. Years ago in the spring of 1987 a very close friend of my parents passed away. Raili was only in her mid-50s and lived on her own. She didn't have children and left these 2 beautiful embroidery pieces, she had embroidered, to me. I know you'll recognize the BLUE Boy and Pink Lady.

She used a finer embroidery yarn for the face making the facial features so soft.
You can see the thicker embroidery yarn on his feet.

He is such a handsome young man.
I wonder how long it took to complete this beautiful embroidery. You can see they are quite large.
I don't know why I have't hung them before today. It might be the "thing" I used to have until this spring for blue in my home. They are beautiful. I will think of Raili every time I look at them now.
You'll see more of the Pink Lady on PINK Saturday.
I hope you have a beautiful BLUE day today... Judi xoxo

If only I had the stamina to stick to something so intricate! This is simply delicious. I would love to see closeups of the girl next week! Have a week filled with love, Cherie

I just came over from Smiling Sally's Blue Monday. I just love your header, that is so my cat.
Your friend put a lot of hours in those two pictures, what talent she had. I don't have near the patience to do something that big.
Abby is so cute.

Thanks for sharing

Good evening, Juli! How very nice of you to come by! How did you find me? I used to cross stitch a long time ago, but my eyes can hardly take being in front of the computer, let alone do such fine cross stitching! Lovely mementos of a dear friend. Yes, this blogland is such a blessing; I have the dearest friends thanks to this wonder of technology! I just wish some of my old pals from pre-blogging days would join, but a certain kindred spirit seems to prevail in this land, and that is just fine with me! Do come by again. You have a lovely blog, and I LOVE YOUR HEADER PHOTO!! Anita

Judi I agree with the other ladies that these are just lovely--real works of art. I'm so glad that you "found" them and decided to hang them above the sofa. They are definitely treasures.

Pinkie and Blue Boy are real favorites of mine. I too, recently came across some beautiful Pinkie and Blue Boy prints that had been in my cupboard for a long time. But, yours are truly exquisite, such detail, love and memories all wrapped together. Her craftmanship is breath-taking. I am happy for you that you have them placed where you will be able to enjoy them.

Again its been quite some time since I have found the time to write on my Blog.  Its great to have you stop by and I welcome your comment. ...
