Painted Thrift Table from This to....This...

Today I finally finished the look of a table I had started last year.  I had found the table thrifting and it looked like this.....
Then I did broken china mosaic work on it but this is the only picture I could find with the mosaic work with the table still brown.  Quite drab I think.
Now that I've painted it white it looks like this...finally.  I think its so much prettier now.

I recently also came across a white wicker plant stand.  It was free and in perfect shape.  I've untangled my philadendren plant from the basket it was in before so it looks like its having a "bad hair day"  It'll look pretty once it sorts itself out.
I like the look of the 2 light pieces in my diningroom.
Don't you love it when a project finally is finished?  I sure do.... Judi xoxo

My Thrifting Finds

I hadn't been thrifting much this summer but I did stop at a couple of places recently. I like roosters and hens and bought this one from a little thrift store when I was down at the cottage. Its my first one. He was a deal at $1.99 I thought. See my percy pig cookie jar looking so pleased to have another barnyard pal closeby.

While we were in California on vacation I saw some adorable ones at Ross. We don't have Ross here in Canada and there isn't one when I go across the border either. I tried to convince Marc that SOMEPLACE we had to have room for one or two of them but he was right the carry-on already had precious glassware and I had to leave them behind. I haven't seen any really nice ones around here but I'll keep looking.

I also LOVE bunnies as you may know and soup touraines (spelling?) and I quickly grabbed this bunny soup touraine. He even has a little ladle. I have some other soup touraines without ladles so I'll be able to use this one all around. I know this bunny will share. He was only $4.99.

I put the bunny and the rooster together on my baker's rack. They sit with the two singing pie birds I bought on ebay last summer.

I also found this little ceramic tree with two dear bunnies. One is swinging the other little one. It actually does swing if you give a little gentle push. They are such sweet little love bunnies. Thats what my bunny and I call each other.....cute eh?...the bunnies I bought I mean!!

This is the back of them.... I just couldn't leave it behind for 99 cents.

I hope you find something special that you "really" need next time you are thrifting too....
have a great day... Judi xoxo

Dancing...Singing...and a "new" Chandalier

Well it really is time to step up to high-speed internet. This free dial-up is just so slow and it takes forever to visit everyone. On top of that at 11:30 on Sunday night the dial-up quit. I had a busy tone on my computer until today. I get it free from my work but it took until today for them to have it fixed! I'm glad to be back and trying to catch up.

Tonight is a busy night around here for me. Dancing with the Stars ends tonight. :o( It was so good last night.

I think Shawn Johnson did such a wonderful job. Her freestyle was so energetic. Melissa Rycroft was pretty good too but I have seen her dance better. I ws surprised at Cheryl's choreography last night. Gilles Marini wasn't dancing the way we love to watch him dance. She seemed to be doing most of the dancing. The spotlight was on her I felt.

Its a 2-hour finale and I'll be glued to the TV. No matter who wins that couple will deserve it. They are all so good. Don't you think?
Following that we have Adam Lambert vs Kris Allen on American Idol. I think this will be a close one. The two of them are so different and so good in their own way. Are you like me glued to the set Monday to Wednesday? I won't know what to do with myself next week!! (Check here for this site)

Very recently I was excited because I found something at the thrift shop that I'd been looking for. I didn't want to show it right away because I was going to paint it an ivory perhaps a bit distressed. It was one of about 7 boxes of new chandaliers. I am SURE I "willed" it to be there.

Some of the others were really huge and heavy and quite lovely...but too big for my place. I had Geoff hang it up for me last night in its original state. I think I can bribe Geoff to take it down again if I decide to spray it another colour. All the pricsms were included although I had to go back to get them once I noticed they were missing but a little hand written note explained there were extra pieces in their back room. Do you know, this beauty was $24.99. Good deal eh?

I had better do what I need to do tonight...so I'll be all ready for the big TV festivities.

Enjoy... Judi xoxo

Thrifting Finds in Silver...

I have a new Love Bunny Tassel above that I had fun making tonight. It replaces my previous one that SOLD on My Etsy. Thank you....
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Last week when I found those Botanical dishes I also found some other things. It kind of makes me chuckle because of something that Sally said to me last summer when I discovered thrifting.
At that time I was slipping in and out of thrift shops and joyfully finding all kinds of great "treasures". What made me chuckle was that I, like all of us reveal how much we paid for our finds expressing how much we saved by these thrift purchases.

Sally commented something like with all this money I've saved I'll have enough to take a trip to Europe soon *lol*. I remember reading that....probably frowning a minute taking it in...and then "bursting" out into a big smile.

Remember I told you that it was 50% off at the Thrift store on Friday? Each of these items were reduced to $2.00. So I am sure I'll be on my way to Europe soon.. wo hoot!!

This tarnished candle and flower holder came out like the one below with a little elbow grease and a little help from "Twinkle". I treated myself to a bouquet of yellow cut mums. It was such a beautiful springy day and everyone seemed to be mentioning that in their blog. So it was all around.

I found the silver candleholders as well. They don't seem to be the tarnishing kind so thats a bonus. I have 2 different coloured candles here because they were on 2 different spots until I decided to bring them together for the picture.

The last item I bought was a lacey tablecloth. Another $2.00 buy. Yayyyy.

I should probably have named Abby the "Streak" because of the white streak she wears down her back at times. Its not there all the time...it depends on how she feels I think. Other times I feel like calling her "Ollie" because she's like an owl.

Have a lovely day..... Judi xoxo

PINK Saturday

Its Saturday again. How do I know it is? Because its PINK Saturday hosted by Beverly from HowSweetThesound. You will want to click onto her site and see all the other PINK participants. Be sure to leave your mark, your comment so they know you've been there!

I caught it. I caught what Shelia had last week. You know hearing voices softly calling to me and the car "being directed" to a thrift store. Once I got there I thought well I'll just go in quickly and after all I haven't been there for a little while. The parking lot was FULL! I did manage to find a parking spot and inside I saw all the 50% off signs. This was really exciting.

I went to my favourite area of the store and look what I found and brought home with me....Dishes.

There were 16 pieces to this set. Are they not pretty for spring and summer? First there is the bread/dessert dish with a pretty yellow flower. The outer rim is a soft gray and white.

The second piece is this beautiful bowl with a pretty purple flower. I know the PINK is coming.
The PINK dinner plate! They all show no wear and I'm so happy I found them. Now these dishes were $12.95 for the set. I got them for $6.50 because they were half price. I was so excited. I love them.
Enjoy your Saturday. I hope your weather has continued to be beautiful. I hope you'll visit the other beautiful PINKS today. Have a lovely day.... Judi xoxo
