Dyllan's Little Critters Quilt

Happy PINK Saturday and welcome to my blog. When you are finished please be sure to visit our hostess Beverly at HowSweetTheSound for more PINK participants.

On BLUE Monday I showed you this quilt I was making for my new grand niece Dyllan. Since then I've added the back fabric, quilted it and sewed the binding. It is very colourful and now you can see the PINK also. I wanted to show it to you again on PINK Saturday.
I made it with fabrics I had left over from various projects which were perfect for this special quilt. I was so happy to find a very complementary fabric for the back. It incorporated the many different colours I used in the front. I love the look and hopefully Dyllan will be entertained with it also as well as

be snuggly on it or wrapped cozy in it. Aren't the little critters on it cute?

Happy PINK Saturday! Judi xoxo

Sunday Afternoon Scrappy Quilt for Dyllan

Its nice to have a BLUE Monday. Visit Sally at SmilingSally who is our gracious BLUE Monday host for more BLUE participants. Enjoy.

In January I became a great aunt to Dylan, my nephew's little bundle of joy. I really wanted to make her something, something like a quilt. I'm not really a quilter and I've had no desire to shop and coordinate fabrics for a quilt.

Sunday morning I decided to sort through fabric I had already. Surely I could put together a quilt with the different bits I had....a scrappy quilt. I knew her room had oranges in it. These fabrics do have orange in them as well as reds and a bit of pink (that looks purple in this pic).

Once I knew what fabric I had to play with I calculated the quilt on paper. Then I started cutting. As I began laying them out I couldn't imagine this as a pretty quilt for a little girl. You can see the BLUE in the striped fabric. The blue is not as bold looking and blends into the colours in real life.

I added some pretty lace trim (another picture of BLUE stripes) ....and after working the Sunday afternoon....

I surprised myself... it was indeed going to be a very pretty quilt for little Dylan.

Tonight I'll buy some fabric for the back and finish quilting. I'll add a narrow border around it, sign my name on the back. It'll be ready to bring to my sister-in-law next Saturday when we visit. I was so pleased with the result. It made Sunday very special.

I hope yours was special too....Judi xoxo
