HAPPY PINK SATURDAY - MOSAIC Tray

Its PINK Saturday again hosted by the mostest Beverly from HowSweetTheSound. Be sure to click back to Beverly to see all the other PINK participants today.
Today I'm showing you the PINKness of the mosaic broken china wooden tray I have almost completed. I used 2 different patterned china. I have to say it was a bit easier doing the cutting and piecing this time, easier than the last, first time. I've finished up the mosaic part and I've

primed it with white paint. Unfortunately I just can't finish painting it right now so that I could show it complete for this Saturday. But I think you can imagine it'll look better with one more coat of white paint. This seems to be the kind of project that you work on sort of holding your breath and hoping at the end it will be alright. I haven't been able to tell yet while working on it.
See all the prettyness PINKness in the plates even though they are broken?

I've added a new picture today because I decided to put my Target birdies into it along with my napkin holder. They are sitting at the table so proudly in their new tray....

The Draw for my Giveaway will be tomorrow morning....See Sidebar to enter....

Happy PINK Saturday...have a great day! ... Judi xoxo

New Project - A Broken China Mosaic Present?

First of all be sure to come back tomorrow. I'm going to announce a little Giveaway...
*********************************************************************************
It was almost a year ago that I became really interested in china, broken china. I was in awe of the lovely mosaic china pieces out there. I was in awe with the work of my blogging friend Penny from The Comforts of Home and LavenderHill Studio . I purchased her online book "How to Mosaic a Silver Tray" and she gave me tips including what tile tool to purchase. If you haven't been to that blog of hers you need to pay her a visit...

I've been collecting some china pieces and finally this week I bit the bullet and forged ahead. It was scarey and I thought the piece was going to look real scarey too. Such is the way I'm feeling about this mosaic china making. Oh my.

This is how it looked before I laid the grout.

This is it completed with the exception of the spray sealer.

My friend Molly is having a special birthday this weekend. She is very supportive of all her friends and their crafting. I thought it would be special to mosaic a little tray for her. I thought I might try to spell her name with the broken china. I learned immediately that was not happening yet with this tray. Trying new projects gives one a big appreciation of the art. Thats how I'm feeling about this project. I need lots of practice.

I didn't think I could do anything at this stage to personalize the tray for Molly....until the very last tile pieces fell into place. finished it tonight. Can you see something in the mosaics in this tray? Molly enjoys having one of these when she's together with friends at a party. I think its more obvious in the first picture without the grout.

I hope if I can continue with these projects that I'll get better but in the meantime I think Molly will appreciate it as it is. I'll tell you tomorrow what is in the mosaic form that makes it Mollys.
