Happy Victoria Day Celebrated at the Cottage

Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends.  This is a long weekend in Canada being Queen Victoria's Birthday.  Apart from the Simcoe Day holiday in August the malls in Canada are closed, banks are closed, grocery stories are closed when it is a holiday such as today.

This is the first weekend I drove to the cottage in NY state.  I left work at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and had a great drive missing all traffic.  The weather wasn't promising to be a very good one in that the forecast was for rain which is what we've had so much of on both sides of the border.  However we did have some warmer weather and the skies cleared up now and again.
It was so good to be there.  It certainly marked the first day of spring for us I think.   The apple blossoms were in bloom all along the last part of my drive....

Marc and I attended a dance recital where Jack tapdanced.  He is not quite 4 and did quite a good job having just started lessons in the fall.

Little brother Reed is 7 months.  Poor little one has been fighting a cold and he was a little too tired to want to be there.

On Saturday evening Janet and Ryan came over with Jack and Reed for a picnic.  Next weekend Marc and I will do some planting (weather permitting).  We want to put in a lilac bush, another hydrangea and widen and add more plants around the shed.  It was great to see our neighbours Bob and Georgia and we had a nice welcome from them and I will share more pictures next weekend.

I have been finishing up some bird projects today and I'll share those this week.
Hope your weekend was a nice one... Judi xoxo

Happy Victoria Day, Judi!

I cannot believe a four-year-old has such confidence! It puts me to shame.

Hi Judi, your drive to your cottage and the dance recital sounds like a wonderful weekend to me. The apple blossoms are so pretty. When we lived on a dairy farm in MI my dad planted an apple orchard. I remember the smell of those blossoms so well. Sixty years later the farm is gone but the farmhouse is still there. The orchard has homes built in and around it. I guess the people who built there couldn't take down all of those lovely apple trees. I was only nine when we moved from there. You just brought back those memories. I love this sweet post Judi.

Thank you for your sweet comment today. We leave in the morning.
Hugs, Jeanne
